Ar. Muhammad Mashood Chohan
Mashood Chohan is the founder and principal architect of Axis Studio, an architecture and interior design practice based in Karachi. He leads the studio's work across houses, interiors, hospitality, mixed-use and urban projects.
His thesis project — a mixed-use development for the Marwari community designed to LEED criteria — explored how passive design and social space can work together in a dense Karachi neighbourhood. That interest in climate-responsive, place-rooted design runs through the studio's work, from heritage-sensitive hospitality design in Thatta to the activation of the space beneath Karachi's Sir Syed Flyover.
He writes on the Axis Studio blog about building, renovating and designing homes in Karachi — from costs and approvals to climate, materials and interiors — to help homeowners make better decisions before they build.
